ACC Academic All-Star and Outstanding Alumni! Congratulations to ASU-Beebe student Ashton Warner and alum Marvin Jones on being honored at the Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) fall conference held at the State House Convention Center in Little Rock.
The awards for ACC Academic All-Star and Outstanding Alumni were presented by Dr. Steve Cole, chancellor of U of A Cossatot and President of the ACC Board.
The Academic All-Star Award was presented to Ashton Warner, a sophomore at ASU-Beebe. She is majoring in Psychology and plans to pursue a bachelor's and master’s degree in mental health counseling after her two years at ASUB. After starting college, Ashton quickly got involved on campus. She became a Leadership Scholar, was elected SGA secretary, and now serves as SGA President. Ashton has participated in giving campus tours, volunteering for community outreach events, and working on campus as a part time student worker. She also served as an active member in several groups such as the Student Advisory Board and the Psychology Club.
The Outstanding Alumni Award was presented to Mr. Marvin Jones, who is a 1978 Alumni of ASU-Beebe and holds a BBA and MBA from Baker University. Mr. Jones served in the consumer package goods industry with the Nasbisco Foods Group for over 17 years before launching his own consulting business in 1998. As President of MJW Enterprises, Mr. Jones provides consulting services to consumer package goods companies with a focus on cross functional excellence. Mr. Jones currently serves as a member of ASU-Beebe Development Council, executor of the Sharae Jones Memorial Scholarship, ASUB Adjunct Professor of Economics, and Cabot Public School Board Member.

The awards for ACC outstanding faculty and staff were presented by Dr. Steve Cole, chancellor of U of A Cossatot and President of the ACC Board.
The Outstanding Faculty Award was presented to Dr. Jake Marquess. He holds a doctorate in biology from the University of Mississippi and has taught life sciences at ASU-Beebe since 2012. He has served as Faculty Senate president and on numerous committees including Academic Leadership, Curriculum, University Awards, Concert-Lecture, Employee Development, and Global Awareness. Dr. Marquess organized and hosted faculty and students in an exchange partnership with the Catholic University of El Salvador. He co-developed online biology courses and updated the life science labs with equipment and technology. Dr. Marquess is an advisor for the Ecology Club and developed interactive natural science activities for local summer camps and programs.
The Outstanding Staff Award was presented to Assistant Registrar Tonya Tucker, who began her career at ASU-Beebe in 2002 as the Registrar’s administrative assistant. She later moved to Admissions Analyst and then Records Management Analyst before being promoted into her current position. Over the course of the last 15 years, Tucker has strived to help students as they maneuver through the phases of the academic process. She goes above and beyond to help the students, faculty, and staff of ASUB. One of the most rewarding pieces of her job is working with students and seeing them achieve their academic goals.
